A shopper has picked the color and opened your size chart. The remaining question is specific: does the waist measurement describe their body or the garment? A phone conversation gives them a place to ask before they leave. Ava brings that channel to a Shopify clothing store, using the product information and guidance you supply.

A size chart needs an explanation that matches the product

Clothing labels alone leave room for confusion. Shopify’s sizing-guide advice distinguishes body measurements from garment measurements. Make that distinction explicit in your own catalog. Identify the measurement system, explain how to measure, and keep fit notes tied to the relevant style.

Before adding phone support, choose one popular collection and inspect its source material. Record the size chart, fabric composition, stretch description and published model details. Remove conflicting language. A general statement about your brand’s fit should not override a product-specific measurement.

Give the shopper a useful next step

Consider a hypothetical customer comparing two sizes in a relaxed-fit shirt. The useful response explains the published fit and measurement method, then points the shopper toward the matching chart. A promise that one size will fit perfectly adds certainty the store does not possess.

Ava gives your store a dedicated phone number, answers product and policy questions, and learns from the store information, documents and URLs you provide. Prepare the same approved explanation your best support person would use. When a measurement is missing, give the agent a staff follow-up route instead of asking it to infer the answer from a product photo.

This is also a practical way to learn where your catalog falls short. If callers keep asking about sleeve length, add a verified sleeve measurement to the page. The next visitor gets the answer without needing to call.

Keep exchanges and fit advice in the same conversation

A shopper choosing between sizes also needs to understand the exchange rules. Provide the current return window, item-condition requirements and treatment of final-sale merchandise. Explain the published policy clearly without promising exceptions.

Test an ordinary full-price item and a final-sale item separately. Ask the same exchange question about each. The answers should reflect the actual policy attached to that purchase. Have a team member review edge cases before making the number prominent.

Follow an unfinished checkout with the right conversation

An abandoned checkout leaves the reason unknown. For eligible shoppers with the required consent, Ava’s Recover plan supports a callback and a checkout link by text. Use the call to address the remaining concern. Apply a discount only when your approved offer rules allow it.

If the shopper needed sizing information, a coupon alone leaves that question unresolved. Make the return path simple after the question is answered. Keep your outbound rules separate from ordinary inbound support, and route requests to stop contact through your configured process.

A focused trial for an apparel store

Start with ten representative questions across your selected collection. Include a measurement question, an exchange request, an unavailable detail and a question about a sale item. Compare each response with its source. Publish the number after the answers and staff handoff work as intended.

During the trial, review transcripts for unresolved questions and repeat contacts. Compare completed orders and subsequent returns within a consistent observation window. A phone call or a checkout-link click is not proof of an incremental sale. Keep those events separate in reporting.

The current Support plan is $29 per month with 100 minutes, then $0.10 per additional minute. Recover is $99 per month with 400 minutes, then $0.08 per additional minute. Both offer a seven-day trial. Ava takes no commission on recovered revenue.

Questions before you add the number

Does Ava replace my size chart?

No. Your chart and product details remain the source. Phone support helps customers discuss that information and exposes gaps worth fixing.

Can the agent guarantee that a garment will fit?

Keep answers within verified measurements and published fit guidance. Use staff follow-up for questions your source material cannot resolve.

Should I launch outbound calls at the same time?

Validate inbound answers first. Then test eligible recovery calls with approved contact and offer rules. Our overview of Ava voice calling explains the broader workflows.
